iSolon.org Forum Rules

A citizens assembly, for purposes of this forum, is defined as a randomly selected public body with a formal government mandate to deliberate and propose legislation on an issue of democratic reform.  Other types of public and private bodies may make a great contribution to democracy but are not the subject of this forum.    If you want to post something, please make it somehow relevant to the purpose of this forum, which is to foster a community with a shared interest in the strengths and weaknesses of citizens assembly based democratic reform.

Please feel no modesty in touting your organization or work.  If you're doing anything related to citizens assembly based democratic reform, members of this community want to know about it.

Please use your common sense in deciding what to post.  I'll develop more formal rules if necessary.    My bias is toward allowing a full and open discussion.  Citizens assembly based democratic reform has great potential, but it isn't going to realize that potential until all its warts have had a chance to be thoroughly aired and debated.

Assuming this forum takes off, I will periodically report on its postings in the occasional Citizens Assembly News Digests I send out.  Indeed, that may be the way most people find out about new postings on this forum.    Note that you can subscribe to any forum or topic (check the manage subscription options in the User Control Panel or click the "Subscribe" link at the bottom of a particular forum or topic).  A subscription to a forum or topic means that you will receive an email when a new posting is made to an issue you want to track.
